Vermiller LLC is my independent consulting practice. Before I started it, I spent more than twenty years building and running production web systems: high-traffic consumer sites, enterprise e-commerce, content platforms for agency clients, and a startup I co-founded.

Now I focus on the work I'm best at: shipping code, using AI where it actually helps, and keeping systems locked down.

Everything is done remotely. There's no sales team, no account manager, and no offshore handoff. The person you talk to is the person writing the code.

    AI is a tool in the toolbox, and I treat it like any other technology. I start with the problem you're trying to solve, then iterate toward something that works. Sometimes that's a language model, sometimes it's a different kind of tool, and sometimes the honest answer is that AI isn't the right fit.

    Web platforms and content management, from new builds to the legacy site nobody wants to touch. Enterprise content management systems, and fast static sites when those are the better fit.

  4. security

    I've spent twenty years building web systems, so I look at security from the inside: how an application handles logins, sessions, input, secrets, and deployment. I review code and architecture, harden Linux servers and containers, test web applications for common flaws, and fix what turns up, including findings from someone else's audit. You get a plain-language writeup of what I found and what to fix first. Testing happens only with written authorization and an agreed scope.
